A standardized penalty for sleeping too much.

Effect

DC

Characters who finish 24 hours without an extended rest must immediately roll an endurance check against DC 10. For each additional 6 hour period (unless the character has started to sleep), roll again and increase the DC by 2.

Failure

Failure causes the character to lose one healing surge which cannot be regained until the character has an extended rest with an additional hour of sleep per surge. For each surge lost, the player takes a -1 penalty to:

  1. Skill checks
  2. Attack rolls
  3. All defences
  4. Initiative

Justification

People staying awake for a long period of time is unrealistic. We argue that most people should be able to go 24 hours without sleep - therefore a DC of 15 is used.
